The "they're trying to take your guns away"meme is central to the NRA, and by that proxy the gun industry, campaign of FUD. Recently Lord Orange Marmalade said "The eight year assault on your constitutional rights has ended." There was no such campaign except by people who are as fringe as the gun nuts who think they should be armed anywhere they want to armed. When we explain that we're not after all your guns the message is for everybody reading this, not just you.
