You should try watching the show. I agree with you about his smarmy attitude, but he 100% discusses disagreements with people, that's sort of his thing. He usually has 1 or 2 Republicans on the panel, and he gives it to liberals just about as much as he gives it to Republicans. If you've only seen bits and clips (not saying you have) you might get the same idea about Hitchens or Harris too, without the meat in between they seem pretty egotistical.
