I'm not particularly looking forward to this new film... from the trailers I've seen of it. It looks too similar to the first one, so yeah, I would've hoped they'd try something new. I'll still watch it though. My favourite Alien saga films are Aliens and AVP (though I guess for the purists, that one doesn't count, but nonetheless I love it). And I quite liked Prometheus as well especially since it appears to me that though it's a prequel made long after, it's one that was perhaps envisioned from the start?... in that it has scenes from the original Alien film (such as the massive dead creature in a chair) that were never explained in the first one, but which make sense in light of this one (or they did when I watched it last... I've completely forgotten now what all that was about
