The problem is that there's a new input helping to bring about the rise in heat.
That's like driving 100 mph on a twisty road today because you've done it before safely ... but today it's raining even as you assume safety based on experience.
Just as an aside, non-human life doesn't seem to be flourishing; animal extinctions have maintained a record rate for a while now, and from megafauna like elephants and rhinos to small organisms like coral, other animals are clearly in danger of the same.
