When I as younger I wasn't into games. I owned a NES until I got my first PS when I was 16. The only game I had was MGS and it blew me away. To me there has never been a game that has affected me more than that series. It is full of endearing moments, ie avoiding enemies in your cardboard box. To epic 4 hour long boss battles Ie The End in mgs 3.
It took story telling to a whole other level. It was the first time when your enemies were grey, fighting for a different cause different from your own, rather than be out and out evil. TEach one is unique and fantastic. Bosses like Pyscho mantis, Revolver ocelot, Sniper wolf, The End, Vamp, The ninja, Big Boss are a marvel of design. They had unique backgrounds where I actually took time to reflect on some of those kills. Wondering there motives. Feeling genuinely sad, sometimes almost heartbroken when the final shot has been fired . None more so after fighting the boss on that field of flowers at the end of MGS
Lastly the music is just superb. I am in love with the MGS soundtracks. In my opinion no game has ever came close to the music of metal gear, From the initial theme to the orchestral scores every track fits the atmosphere perfectly it adds to your experience some songs chill you to the bone some leave you just hanging off a ladder to listen to for ages. . it is often breathtaking always emotional and nothing has came close to emulating it

I used to live in a room full of mirrors; all I could see was me. I take my spirit and I crash my mirrors, now the whole world is here for me to see.
