Yeah it's pretty textbook apologist tactic. Almost as common as not understanding that being closer to an event does not make an account more reliable .Nor being further away make it less so . Yet they straw man this position on to Jesus skeptics (Wooter for example) while not getting it's contextual . It's not that the "wittiness etc are too late it's the quality of the documents.
