Fair point.  My argument is that if your chosen religion advocates violence towards those of other faiths and apostates. When someone follows it to the letter, you cannot then be upset if when people use a broad brush to describe your religion a bit of paint gets on you.

Now if I use your KKK example would it be fair if say a KKK member burns a cross somewhere and then someone says "Well don't be so biased, Not all KKK members are like that, even thou they clearly have a long history of just that?

STOP THERE,

Again, don't focus on 1 label because all religions are capable of violence. Not because all humans are violent, most are not. All religions are capable of violence because humans have the potential to be violent and will use religion as the excuse.

Our species behaviors are not in clubs or labels or holy people or holy writings, those are simply things humans think where their morality comes from.

Why stop there?  It (The Quran) does, It's pretty clear about how to deal with apostates and non-believers  and it isn't a handshake.
