We're hitting the one year mark at present. Before that it was my mother..and before that it was my in-laws. The great recession hit everyone hard, us too, but us less than the rest of our respective families.
In any case, I only meant for this to be a minor diversion in support of Mins quip - but..I will say that the "viability of the fetus" is a massive bait and switch, since it's viability, however one chooses to define that, is a meaningless distinction. The fetus is no more viable in it's own right after birth than it is in the womb..and for some of us, the once-fetus-now-purportedly full grown man remains equally unviable or viable well into their twenties or worse. Maybe, -maybe- if the gov was set up such that an unwanted child could be removed from the womb and provided for by the state - it could have some case for "viability" - but something tells me that those anti-abortion activists both in the private and government spheres wouldn't be too keen on the idea of having to take care of the little moochers themselves. Until such a time as that pipe dream becomes a reality I can't help but see poverty and the desire not to be impoverished as a solidly legit reason to abort.
I, personally, wouldn't and couldn't decide not to have kids just because I was poor...but I can't in good conscience make that decision for another or even cast subtle shade on them for having done so. Similarly, I categorically reject any "those are the consequences of sex" comments..in that the consequence of sex is an orgasm, not impoverishment and shame.

I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!
