Oh and the whole xtians vs lions thing is a myth.
1- As I understand it, as the years went on after Jesus's execution, people said to the disciples- "Hey, put it all down on paper and get it published" and bingo! the gospels were born, or am I missing something?
2- According to the historian Tacitus, Christians during Nero's time (at least) were mainly torn apart by dogs, crucified, or burned alive. The Romans did throw people to lions on occasion, so it's quite probable nasty xtians were among them.
Another historian, Tertullian, writing later remarks that the Romans were always ready to exclaim "Away with the Christians to the lion!".
I think he is talking about the formation of the canon.
