Maybe I'm mixing up my histories, but isn't it kind of the same thing that triggered the French Revolution and the poor were taking back everything from the rich who were responsible for their miseries and deaths from poverty for centuries? I assumed this was the same thing, where if I was in the revolutionaries' shoes, I'd gut the lot of them myself, children and all, for living the good life for so long at the expense of myself and my fellow peasants; I'd probably be laughing my fucking ass off while I did it since who would believe justice would ever be brought to these people who were always untouchable? I've lived way too long in shitty poverty to think that anyone in that kind of privileged position is still able to be called human so maybe I'm more jaded than the average proletariat, but, fuck, man, what could anyone really say in their defense when we see what the inequality they enforce does all over the world?
If this wasn't the case with them, and the people were just pissed and taking their anger out on an easy target, okay, tragic. But I find it hard to believe anyone in a position of power like that doesn't have it coming.

Religions were invented to impress and dupe illiterate, superstitious stone-age peasants. So in this modern, enlightened age of information, what's your excuse? Or are you saying with all your advantages, you were still tricked as easily as those early humans?
