There is an ongoing falling out on another website, that started over very petty shit on the other's part. It is almost 8 years since they suddenly decided they didn't like me.
I can take alot. I can handle the bullshit unfounded stereotypes and insults hurled at me from theists who don't know me. But this particular asshole has known me since the start of that website and we actually liked each other at first. I personally think this idiot is pulling a Trump lying to get attention. He did stop attacking me briefly in my thread over there where I announced the death of my mother.
BUT, this sicko is implying I value genocide against religious people, and he knows damned well I do not. I do value scrutiny and ridicule and blasphemy of religion, even with blunt language and cussing, DEPENDING on context of situation.
I have been consistent in saying ALL religions as concepts are horrible ways of conducting political diplomacy, either nationally or globally. Religions compete against other religions for global power, and even under the same umbrella labels you have sub sects that have the same iconic heros and read the same holy writings but come to different conclusions as to how to follow or whom to follow, and those sub sects also compete for political attention.
I will not back off of that. But how anyone can go from that to jumping to the conclusion that genocide is a solution is insane.
There is a huge difference between human rights, and all 7 billion of us should desire diplomacy and non violence even in the face of offending each other. Then there is the difference of having the ability to demonstrate what you claim do be credible. Humans have rights, but ideas as claims do not deserve blind taboos never to be criticized or picked on.
When Christopher Hitchens wrote "God Is Not Great, how religion poisons everything." He was not calling for any sort of forced end to any one group. While he was a bit of a warhawk, which I did not like so much, he was for the self empowerment of those living under theocracies to get rid of those powers. He, like I do, do see the monotheistic deity of the traditions of Abraham as a dictator. But even in saying that, we don't say that as some sort of call to harm followers, but more like a book review, or movie review when you are assessing a character in fiction.
This recent post of his is actually a result of him being anti Israel. It is true that some in the west want to defund Israel, but even if I agreed, which I do not, does not mean I love Bibi, I fucking hate him. But that also does not mean I value the theocracies that pump money into Palestine either. To me all three religions are responsible for ignoring that it is religion itself causing these divisions.
If say our resident Muslim Atlass and say our resident Christians here want less violence in the world, then all I am saying is you both have to face that it is the root cause of human divisions. It allows us as a species to forget we are not a separate species.
I DO believe that my fellow humans are capable of great compassion and non violence. I simply do not think religion is a very good filter when conducting politics between diverse populations.
That is my RANT. I am just really pissed off at this fuckface for accusing me of valuing genocide while he is making the claim that Israel's population deserves to be wiped out. Genocide is never acceptable regardless which side is saying the other deserves it. Revenge solves nothing.
