And we (and groups like BLM too) do care when police kill white people unnecessarily too. The issue is (in the most general sense) police brutality, but (as you correctly note) the distribution of victims is not random.

Are you concerned about cops being killed? Just last year, after a gunman killed 5 and injured 9, the Dallas Cowboys wanted to put a small sticker on their helmets which said (ironically considering last Sunday) "Arm in arm."

The NFL told then they couldn't.

I am concerned about anyone being killed. I can be concerned about both cops and the victims of police brutality and abuse simultaneously. And I can also respect the wishes of a team to decide how to respond to specific instances, be that to allow a form of display/support or not. This isn't a zero-sum game with respect to my empathetic abilities. 

Do you not care about the lives of those being taken by police (and that they are overwhelmingly dark skinned)?
