I like the idea that the chances are greater that our existence is a simulation, based on technology getting so good in the future that the characters in the sim wouldn't know this fact so as to make it more realistic, and that there would be way more copies of this game then the one, real existence where it was created.
But I think that even in the future, games can get boring and stale without a cheat or god mode.
I'm thinking that we could be programmed to ignore these weird events of people being gods and doing anything.
But I think that would be too much for the system.
And if the system couldn't handle even the requirements to run this game for longer than, say, half an hour, then our memories may be entirely made up, whilst we exist for only half an hour at a time and maybe there isn't even very many of us characters, just everyone you interact with over a half hour.
Maybe you're the only character that exists at all.
