[pointless history nerdery] The whole "let them eat cake" thing wasn't Marie Antoinette, it was Rousseau in his autobiography which he attributed to "a great princess" (he wrote the autobiography when Marie Antoinette was six, and still Maria). The most likely attribution of this quote is considered Louis XIV's wife Marie-Therese, but even more likely than that is Rousseau made it up.[/pointless history nerdery]
