And what about all those atheists who were former christians? They're just not humbling themselves enough? This is why your god gets accused of being lazy, among other criticisms. People who genuinely want to find god aren't finding him, despite his supposed knocking on the door of every soul. It's not a catch 22. It's moving the goalposts.

How would you know whether these people were GENUINE or not?  
I know countless religious people who just say that they are religious but within they are interested mainly in materialism.

Materialism make it impossible to be pure within and of course make it impossible to open the door to God.
People have to choose.
They can't have both.
