If I did I would as I have with myself given them a book that shows the different religions compared to Christianity.
Let me guess -- A book about other religions, from a Christian author? No. I prefer to get the information from the source, so that it will reflect the actual beliefs and practices of a religion rather than an outsider perspective.
I can only imagine what GC's idea of a good introduction to world religions would be like.
Buddhists understand the value of compassion and peace but are hell-bound nonetheless because they don't know Jesus . . . etc.
Reminds me of a book my first wife's parents once bought me: Escape From Reason by Francis Schaeffer, the Evangelical "intellectual" of his day. It purported to show how modern philosophy had lost its way and had led us all to the cultural malaise and relativism that threatened to undermine civilization (read: proper Christian Civilization). It was awful in a fascinating way. If I recall correctly, he 'disposed' of Kant in something like two or three pages and Hume in the same amount of space. His treatment of every major thinker he dealt with was equally ham-handed, undiscerning, incomplete, dishonest, and shameful.
