Quran does emphasize on guarding/fear etc, but some things:
It says to have Taqwa so that you become appreciative/thankful and has also said this is the purpose of the religion.
So while Worshiping God initially is for gaining Taqwa, it says to have Taqwa so that we may appreciate and give thanks.
It says the last of the call of the people to God who enter paradise will be all praise is to God, Lord of the worlds.
Appreciating God and others is not only love but the best and highest form of love.
The other thing you are ignoring is that I am talking about love in general. Yes love towards God means you ought to revere and respect him, but I am talking about love in general.
