What are you making for Thanksgiving dinner?

For those of us who are celebrating Thanksgiving, I thought it might be interesting to compare what everyone is making. We are celebrating T-day on Wednesday due to custody issues. So here's what I'm making:

Two turkeys: One 19 lb turkey and one 14 lb turkey
Homemade smashed potatoes
Candied yams
Green bean casserole
Corn
Homemade dinner rolls
Homemade apple pie, chocolate pie and pumpkin pie
Cranberry sauce
Gravy
Stuffing

I wrap my turkeys in food grade cheese cloth, cook upside down for the first hour, flip it then cook it right side up the rest of the way. I do not put the stuffing inside the turkey as I don't think raw juice from the meat running into the stuffing is safe (no matter what the inside temp reaches). 

By the way... I was able to obtain the two turkeys, fresh, not frozen, at 68 cents per pound, instead of $1.99 per pound.  I didn't have a coupon but the store manager happened to be setting the turkeys out at that time.

What's everyone else having?

That sounds good enough to me.  What time should I be there and I assume you prefer red wine but let me know if I should bring a white too.  Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy.

Seriously though, Lia is in China so I decided not to host for the first time in ages.  So baby brother picked up the ball I dropped and invited me to join them.  Since they both work and have kids I offered to do most of the sides.  So I'll making:

Smashed potatoes (in the fridge ready to go, 5 lbs of Yukon golds with creme cheese, half & half and butter);

Fresh cranberry and orange chutney (ground up with some sugar, also sitting in the fridge ready to go);

Turkey gravy (cheated and picked up a quart made locally and ready to go);

Stuffing (this I'll put together tonight and cook in their stove when I get there in the morning, raw eggs and all).

When I met the wife....the very first "morning after"..she cooked tofurky bacon.  I spit it in her face involuntarily...and then I forgave her for serving it to me.  We haven't spent time apart since.  We were married then. 

Are you Klingon?  I know they have some funky mating rituals.  She didn't knife you, did she?

I don't have to cook, since my kids do it all.  (That's why we have em', right?  So they'll eventually do all the cooking for big meals like that)

Going to my youngest daughter's for thanksgiving.  Should be better than last year since my mother won't be there.  Or my ex-husband.  (At least he shouldn't.  Though who the fuck knows anymore, I didn't think he'd be there last year).  Then again, it's supposed to be a really full house.  Which means we're going to have enough food to feed an army.  Because an army is pretty much going to be there.  (All my kids, all my grandkids, some of my children-in-law's family too.  At least 40 people I think, which is fucking nuts)

Sounds like a blood sport to me, or it would be with my family.
