A communist society doesn't necessarily have to mean that it is in it's finalized form, i.e, a classless society(I'm talking in the traditional Marxist sense), a society that is striving for it or on the process of achieving that state, or at least working with that in mind can also be called a communist society. Are there no stable economies ruled by communist parties today? Obviously a truly command economy is not very practical in this day and age but it is still possible up to a certain extend, take China for example, it has what is called a "bird cage economy", metaphorically meaning that the market(the bird) is allowed to fly freely but only within the cage(economic structure sanctioned by the ruling communist party).
