Looks like another creepy boyfriend has murdered a child.  

In almost every case such as this the child's mother has hooked up with a creep that she could pimp out the child to so that he will kill the kid.  It's a deliberate action.  The woman hates the child's father and won't give him custody.  She then finds a guy who will abuse and kill the kid while she acts shocked. It's a clever "murder-for-hire" scheme that's pulled off all of the time.  The guy ends up doing the time and the woman walks free.
