Me too. And I'm not going to find beauty in the fact that that is not something currently within our power. I have nothing but contempt for the platitude that death is what gives our lives meaning. Involuntary death SUCKS and it is ridiculous to try and sugarcoat it and pretend that it isn't.

That is probably the biggest reason while most people can't handle atheism. Some of us just don't have a choice, though. We are incapable of deluding ourselves into believing there is an after-life waiting for us but also incapable of embracing the idiotic platitude that involuntary death is pretty.
Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former.
