The Quran wasn't marked independently; Arabic language as a whole was marked and dotted. It will cause a chain-reaction if two cities had different meanings of words; people of the region will not be capable of even interact in terms of economy and markets.

The Hadith would not be needed also; if words of the source were reshaped; then Sunnies can produce their own separate Quran, and Shiites produce their own seprate Quran. But they couldn't because the book was unified; and they resorted to the Hadith books instead.

Sunnies produced their separate Hadith books; and Shiites produced their separate Hadith books.
But non produced their own separate Qurans.
