If you mean Francis Bacon, he was at best a nominal Christian. Even if he weren't, it is wrong to say that 'Christianity gave us the scientific method'. There is nothing whatsoever in Christianity that would lead to hypotheses testable by observation and experiment.
Take the wedding at Cana, for example. How many of the Jesusites present said, 'Hang on - let's have a look at those wine jars' or 'Neat trick. Let's see you do it again, with wine jars that we provide. And roll up your sleeves while you're at it.' ?
