I wasn't an atheist when I read that story, but it had a lot to do with me becoming an agnostic theist after I finished the Bible for the 2nd time. The part that really appalled me was when God replaced Job's children and that made killing the first batch okay, like the deaths of his previous family was no more significant than losing cattle. At least his new daughters were prettier, I'm sure that made it easier to marry them off advantageously. Win!
