2. Not all the "remedies are effective" and just as bad as the 'Snake oil Salesman' you poo poo
Chiropracters http://www.chirowatch.com/cw-debunked.html Again, if a chiropracter uses a treatment which has been shown to be effective, the same treatment can be given at any hospital one chose. The difference between chiropractic and actual medicine is in the underlying principle and treatments offered that differ based upon those principles. A physical therapist will not perform treatments which chiropractors will because they have not been shown to be effective, and can actually hurt the patient.
(Here in the US, chiropractors exist because it is cheaper for insurance companies to send you there in the event of say; a car accident, than it would be to pony up the coin for actual medical treatment.)
If a medical treatment is ineffective (not just in one person but ineffective) then it is not used. There are controls in place which prevent such treatments from being leveraged in mainstream medicine. A treatment that has not yet had it's effect proven may be leveraged in a case study, and the participants must be willing after having been informed of the nature of the treatment. That is obviously here, in the US, though things slip through the cracks. If you are one such person my heart goes out to you. Take solace in the knowledge that medical professionals are working to remedy that. Why, however, seek a placebo?
