The Bible is an absolutely vile book, you'll get no argument here. But I'm wondering if you've ever read the Quran. By my estimation, it's even worse. I don't know how anyone can defend either.
From what I hear the Quran is much worse than the New Testament but not as bad as the Old Testament.
But modern Christians don't take the Old Testament very seriously or literally... and even the Jews don't follow the vile stuff in the Old Testament literally. If they did all Jews would be murderous barbarians lol.
The difference is... despite the Quran not being quite as bad as the Old Testament there are many Muslims who take it all literally as the Quran is a newer book and hasn't yet been "modernized". Modernized meaning not actually believing in 99% of it lol.
Also, it's important to note not quite as bad as the old testament is a very low bar.
Moderates be like "WTF you actually believe this shit in the Bible? It's mostly stories."
Fundie be like "Yeah I do."
Moderate be like "Well, at least you believe. Here, have more freedom to force your religion on others."
Muslim fundie be like "KILL THE INFIDELS!"
Muslim moderate be like "That's a bit too far. This is 2018. You're only supposed to kill apostates nowadays."
Enough muslim jokes. I hear the Hadith is worse than the Quran and the most extreme muslims tend to follow the Hadith a lot but not all muslims do.
