Fooling people with other things than just religion still pays off.
I also recently saw this article titled Woman dies from bee sting therapy promoted by Gwyneth Paltrow
but it doesn't seem that the dead woman was directly tied to Goop

Quote:A woman died in Spain after suffering an allergic reaction while undergoing live bee acupuncture - an alternative therapy promoted by Gwyneth Paltrow in which the patient is stung by the angered insects.
The treatment, which has been popularised in recent years by celebrities such as Paltrow, who founded the alternative lifestyle website Goop, was given to the Spanish woman at an unidentified clinic which offered it for muscular contractions and stress. The centre did not have adrenaline on site so treatment was delayed until an ambulance arrived 30 minutes later, the report said.

teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"
