We might return to such archaic times where we need such rules again, a lot of it's ethics have context and situation.
And in these times where the proof and it's manifestation is hidden, harshness types laws are not to be implemented by those who if they implemented, would only make people incline to evil and rebellion more, like Jesus said, let those who have not done such evil to cast the first stone.
It's meant for a Guide from God to implement and interpret correctly.
