I've always found the term 'agnostic' to muddle the issue, it's pretty unnecessary. And kind of annoying, because questions like this one get asked which mean I have to define myself either way. If you say you're an agnostic atheist, you get 'AHA, so you don't know', and if you say you're a gnostic atheist (which if pushed is where I would have to lean) then they say 'But how can you KNOW for sure there is no God', and then I have to fall over myself trying to explain that I KNOW there is no God to the same extent that I know unicorns et al do not exist. There has never been any credible evidence of either, but nobody gets grilled on other fantastical myths.
So yeah, agnostic is a fairly useless term.
