Nonsense.  In space there is no bottom.

I was just spoofing the line, they were really on a planet. A pond froze from the bottom up, because it gets really cold at night there. Even though the guys were walking in bright sunshine.

I can ignore stuff like that for a good show, but this wasn't good - just a bunch of tropes strung together.
