An old joke about this:
A missionary comes into the Arctic and decides to set up shop among the Eskimo/Inuit. He starts up a conversation with one of them. The missionary tells him that without Christ, the weight of his sins will surely send him to Hell. The Inuit thinks about this and says "My ancestors lived and died without knowing this. Do you mean to say that they're damned because they didn't get the chance to hear about it?" The missionary backtracks, saying: "No, no, not at all. They didn't have the chance to hear. God's not going to torture people just because they didn't get the chance to hear about it." He then raises his harpoon and asks, fuming: "Then why the fuck did you TELL ME?
The wording was mine. Hopefully, I didn't fuck up my portrayal of the Inuit, since we have Tizheruk here.
