A two-way discussion will almost always be superior to a monologue. Not that Christianity is the only alternative to atheism (far from it). It's always beneficial to hear from all sides. In the United States and most European countries, Christianity remains an important world-view so it is beneficial to contrast atheism to that world-view.
It's unfortunate (and to the detriment of us both) that that discussion doesn't more often occur in a more mutually respectful tone but we are what we are. Still, difficult discussion is better than no discussion.
