To be foolishly pedantic, he didn't 'pardon' her, which would be vacating her conviction. He commuted her sentence to time served. She's still a convicted drug trafficker, which she would not be had he granted her a pardon.
That being said, I agree that the commutation was just, irrespective of whatever his motives may have been.
