That's pretty much the bottom line. For some, not all, some, they just don't want God to exist because that would mean there is a moral authority higher than themselves to which they would be accountable.

That's a great way to put it. They want a heaven without God. I would add that they want a heaven without God so they can claim to be god.
This is utterly ridiculous, since it makes the fatal assumption that atheists actually do believe in your god, but act like they don't due to some personal hangup.
My objections to your god - specifically the way in which it's portrayed in your holy tome, and all of the very obvious issues that it presents that Christians simply gloss over (with, for example, pained analogies) - is in addition to a more fundamental issue, namely I cannot believe in something that has zero proof of existing.
So, this isn't a matter of "I don't like god, but acknowledge he exists," but rather "Your god doesn't exist, it's a pretty obvious fiction, and here are some other issues I have with the character." From my POV, it's no different than talking about Nurse Ratched.
Moreover, while I expect the usual parade of mental midgets on here to trot out the tired "You just want to sin" BS, I honestly expected better from you. Did you not learn one damn thing during the drama that led to the creation of the "What do Christians think to gain by being here?" thread(s)? If you want to actually spread your message of your god, then you'd be much better served by attempting to have an actual dialogue. Which, among other things, means accepting that our myriad claims of not believing your god exists, not believing that sin is something that exists, and not believing that an afterlife exists are truthful.
