God's love protects us from the disasters he sends.

God's love protects us from the disasters he sends.
A lot of Christian apologists, when talking about the anthropic principle, like to point out how "perfectly in-tune" everything is for humanity's existence. For example; how the Earth's atmosphere and magnetic field act as a perfect shield from the Sun's deadly radiation. Everything from how the human body is designed to fight off deadly infections, to how Jupiter's immense gravity attracts asteroids that would otherwise hit the Earth.

Reminds me of someone who would send a swarm of killer bees after you, but only after he's given you a can of bug repellent.

Clearly, he loves his creation so much, that he's willing to design us with safety features that protect us from all the bad things that are trying to kill us.... Which he also designed...? Thinking

Sounds like infinite love to me.

At last, I get to use this in proper discussion:

At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

Must have been an LGBT parade in California.

Erm...if God loves us enough to protect us from disasters (which he doesn't - ask any dead villager buried under a mud slide), what is the point of God sending the disasters in the first place?

If God tipped his hand that way, belief would count for nothing, people would know.

First actual God that turns up and doesn't play the invisible spook believe in me game and actually openly walks among us doing flipping miracles (making the meat at Taco John look normal, resurrecting Juice Newtons music career, stuff like that), be it Zeus, Yahweh, FSM, or that obscure pig god Captain Bligh believed in, I don't care, I'm turning in my time here and signing up.

That was just a warning shot.
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."
