Across time, the early Romans added their share of horrible verses, the least that can be said about them is that they won't fit in a normal brain.
As an example, we have this verse:
Quote:And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, Avenge the children of Israel of the Midianites ... And they warred against the Midianites, as the LORD commanded Moses; and they slew all the males ... And the children of Israel took all the women of Midian captives, and their little ones ... And Moses was wroth with the officers ... And Moses said unto them, Have ye saved all the women alive? ... Now therefore kill every male among the little ones, and kill every woman that hath known man by lying with him. But all the women children, that have not known a man by lying with him, keep alive for yourselves. Numbers 31:1-18
No sane person will read this, and stay a Christian. This is outdated madness of sick, criminal minds. If this is God's prophet; then to hell with God and his prophet. Both.
But it's not God. This is the Roman Catholic Church talking; this is the reality of ancient Romans.
Moreover:
Quote:When thou comest nigh unto a city to fight against it ... And when the LORD thy God hath delivered it into thine hands, thou shalt smite every male thereof with the edge of the sword: But the women, and the little ones, and the cattle, and all that is in the city, even all the spoil thereof, shalt thou take unto thyself. Deuteronomy 20:10-14
Moreover:
Quote:Go and lie in wait in the vineyards; And see, and, behold, if the daughters of Shiloh come out to dance in dances, then come ye out of the vineyards, and catch you every man his wife of the daughters of Shiloh ... And the children of Benjamin did so, and took them wives, according to their number, of them that danced, whom they caught. Judges 21:20-23
A sane person will not believe in this. A sane person will never justify this.
This is explicit. This is straight language, talking about "the soldiers of God" being allowed to enslave and do whatever they like to children.
How the hell does somebody sleep at night, knowing that they believe in the above?
How would somebody sane enough, becomes a defender of the above?
That is beyond me..
The stories are designed to compel complete obedience and loyalty to the Boss. The Bible was written after the establishment of Islam and the start of the Islamic wars. Having such stories gave the Christians a basis for engaging in all-out war against the invaders. So when a Christian commander ordered his troops to kill all of the enemy regrdless of their status they would do it because their priests had been preaching that it was part of their religion. It's the same thing that the Spanish Christians did to the Indians in the Western Hemisphere they came in contact with. Americans did it as well but not as much. And then we went all out in WWII against the Japanese and 70% against the Nazis.
