The affective part of my disorder is bipolar and I take lithium for it. Alcohol can negate the effects of Lithium. Actually due to meds for the other aspect, I wasn't able to really get drunk. I got really fucked up but not drunk. It wasn't at all pleasant. I have had only 2 experiences with alcohol, so I never really developed a liking for it.
In short, I don't drink at all.
Interesting. I have bipolar disorder too but the alcohol really seems to be helping with my depression. It also reduces my anxiety.
IDK maybe it does, in small amounts. I just know I don't want it interfering with my meds. The Lithium especially. The meds that wouldn't let me get drunk were for the Schizophrenic aspect of my disorder. Sometimes people with bipolar wind up on these type of drugs anyway. But Zyprexa the night before drinking is not a fun time. If I hadn't gone on Seroquel for sleep I probably could get properly drunk if I wanted to. But as I said, I never really developed a liking for it.
