That sounds terribly inconvenient lol. I already get irritated that I have to go to another store to buy gin, I'd be super white trash pissed if I had to buy my beer in another store.

We don't live in a bubble.  A gruesome roadway death does not happen in isolation.  Other human beings (often first responders) have to pry smashed up people out of cars, clean up mangled corpses, and suffer the mental health issues that come with seeing, smelling, and touching all of that.  Not only that but think of the trauma caused to other innocent motorists.  Those that see it and perhaps others in the same accident, through no fault of their own.  Poor little Jimmy not only was injured through the fault of driver A driving recklessly, but then saw driver A's bloody corpse tossed down the roadway, and now needs counseling and does poorly in school due to PTSD.

I'm not just making this up.  It has happened to people.  So that's one reason seatbelts are mandatory.

Yes and one of their names is Tony Rodriguez and I worry about him constantly. He seems indestructible but sometimes when he gets drunk he cries over the children he couldn't save.

I am willing to bet that the snapping of the seat belt slowed you down enough to not go all the way through the window. Should it have snapped? No. Did it keep you from ending up outside of the car? Most likely.

Not really. The guy slammed into the right front quarter panel of my vehicle at 60 miles an hour. That was the first impact. It caused my head to bust out the drivers side window and also spun my car to the left, going the same direction of travel as he was going. That first hit also broke the seat belt. The second hit came because once he spun me, he was still carrying momentum and he then ass-ended me, causing me to fly over to the passenger side, busting out that window. That hit was also hard enough to send my car over a curb and down into a ravine. It was the movement of going down the hill, and gaining speed, which caused me to hit the windshield when the car took a nose dive into a ravine.
