How many different ways are there of taking a shower for instance?... There are lots of personal/private activities that we do that we don't learn from other people or don't compare notes with other people as a general rule (unless you count this site which actually does have a lot of threads comparing notes on toilet/bathroom habits... but this place is an exception
)... so we all develop our own idiosyncratic ways of doing these things. But when activities are public then conformity and feedback come into play and so things get less idiosyncratic and more... folklore/social normish maybe. So I guess in other words I think it's perfectly normal for everyone to have quirks... if quirks are the idiosyncrasies we learn/develop on our own without social feedback, and necessarily appear as weird to other people because they are unique and unfamiliar to them.
