I thought most of the cost would be wages and you're already paying the soldiers.

You have to move them from wherever they are to Washington and back to wherever they are supposed to be.

You have to house them and feed them while they are there.

Anything they were doing that is important will have to be done by someone else while they are off parading around for the Orange Assclown's amusement.

The city incurs substantial costs in police overtime, security, sanitation, construction of event specific venues, etc.

That shit adds up.

Plus the custom made uniforms, dress uniforms, the extra time learning parade drill, fuel costs for driving at 2mph through DC, infrastucture costs for viewing stands.

Parades are big business.
