I used to work from breakfast to lunch, then get off watch and kip out until supper, then back on watch until midnight, then kip out until breakfast... I'd do this all the way from San Diego, CA, to Pusan, Korea, traveling at 12 knots (13.1 mph). But not in a straight line, of course. During the Vietnam War people would be on Yankee Station for months at a time, doing the same work schedule I did.
