The face covering is an Arab ancient custom that was never forced by Islam, it's even prohibited during the Hajj and the daily prayer.
In societies though, I support the ban of any face covering because it's a security threat. A thief or a murderer can wear a mask or a veil, which must be banned. But if everything is secured, what's bad in a woman practicing this ancient custom?
Just don't link it to Islam. Islam itself prohibits it in the daily prayers and the Hajj.
