Really? What do you actaully mean by' overwhelming evidence'? Are you conftating evidence with proof? (they are not the same thing) Could you also provide a few examples of things 'we" cannot understand?
IF you mean proof,so please tell me just ONE piece,overwhelming or otherwise.Personally,I've never seen either.
Over going back about 40 years, I've probably reads about a dozen of the "god was an alien" crackpot books..
There are few common elemensts; The writers tend to be autodidacts without any expertise in the fields in which they presume to teach and they have not grasped the basic notions of logical argument. The biggest single problem seemss to be the basic logical fallacy of argument from personal incredulity,aka argument from lack of imagination.
What these people are actually saying is ""I'm too ignarant,too unimaginative or too stupid to think of anything else, therefore aliens/god did it"
