Refugee thread!

I'd like to hear more about the pedo fiasco. I hate myself like that.

The thread got shifted to the Admin-only area so I only got to read it some years later in the cold light of day.

As well as Anj described above, what it actually boiled down to was that there were a handful of people who did not know the difference between paedophilia and pederasty. Those that did saw no problem with discussing the former as a psychological issue.

The upshot was that a whole area of interest became officially taboo.

This meant that stuff like 'age of consent', the arbitrary-ness-osity of thresholds (and differences around the world), the psychology of self-restraint, individual treatments and societal constraints; treatments for paedophilia vs. firing squads for pederasts etc. could no longer be discussed.  

Personally I'd burn all Catholics just to be sure but I'm old-fashioned like that.  What was that expression?  God will take care of his own.  

It's good to observe, however, that the site owner, Seth, has changed his tune judging by recent podcasts and now sees freedom of expression in a new light (no doubt he's been watching some Hitchens) and quotes whoever it was that said, "Freedom of expression means nothing unless you are prepared to defend expression that disgusts you."
