Disappointed by "Love, Simon"

Finally saw the movie, and as gay films go it was better than most.  In fact, it reminded me a great deal about someone with whom I used to interact with online, someone I loved a great deal.  That's not the point of this thread, however, for that's a story for another time.

What disappointed me was that

Blue ended up being Bram.  I didn't see them as remotely having a spark of a romantic connection.  The ending, that reveal, left much to be desired.
