I’d just like to add:

Fuck these two pieces of shit. The Portuguese police searched really hard for their supposedly missing girl, many officers cancelling annual leave. Then they get the McFucks going on camera and claiming the police have done nothing, and that they’ve had to search themselves.

In my estimation, if this was any couple of random plebs who didn’t have all this special protection, the evidence would have been sufficient to send them down years ago. There is no explanation for the evidence other than the coverup of the death of their daughter. It was checked that no one else died in the apartment, unless the McCanns somehow managed to kill some other unknown person in the apartment, and later moved their body along with some drops of Maddie's blood they had been keeping in a vial for some reason.

There’s two questions left in my mind (yes, I’m assuming guilt for this hypothetical): did Kate know what Gerry was doing? Did she genuinely think Maddie was missing when she entered the apartment, or had he had a chance to contact her to explain? I don’t know. The timeline can be put together pretty well, but it’s not quite clear if just Gerry discovered Maddie dead behind the sofa, or whether Kate was with him too and later pretended to discover she was "missing".

The other question is whether Kate knows what happened to Maddie's body after it was moved in the rental car. I would initially have thought that Gerry would do it alone, because of the power he would hold with that knowledge. The only thing that makes me think Kate might know too is the cadavarine alert on the passenger side of the rental car. That’s hard to explain for just one person doing the trip. I expect Kate wanted one last bit of contact with Maddie's body before it was gone forever. I would guess they destroyed the body somehow, to ensure it would never be found.

I expect all the Tapas 7 know what happened, but Matthew Oldfield certainly did. He tried to shop Gerry in, by extremely unsubtle innuendo in an interview with the police. He indicated Maddie had died, and the direction her body had been taken. The police did eventually search near the area he indicated, but they didn’t have any luck.

So this is the timeline of events. I’ll use (f) to denote a fact, with the rest being the best estimation of what happened after lots of research. Yes, I’ve put a lot of time into studying this case. This is pretty much what the Portuguese police worked out right from the start.

At around 8.15PM Gerry is having a conversation outside his apartment's lounge window (f).

The three kids were alone in the apartment at that time. (f)

Madeleine has a history of getting up and moving around after her bedtime (f).

Madeleine gets up, hearing her dad talking outside the window. She climbs onto the window ledge, to try and see through the blinds.

It’s possible to see through this kind of blind when closed, by moving your head from side to side (f).

The ledge is narrow (f), and while moving her head she loses balance and falls, with her head hitting the hard floor from a height of around 6 feet. She dies soon or after this impact. This matches the cadavarine alert in this area.

Matthew Oldfield checks on the McCann's children, sometime between 9.00 and 9.30 (testimony). I believe it was 9.00, but he tries unconvincingly to shuffle facts around to make out it was 9.30. Someone nearby heard Maddie's name being called out in a worried manner around 9.15 (f).

It can be inferred from his partner's testimony that he must have looked in both bedrooms for Maddie and didn’t see her. Their statements make no sense otherwise when read together, nor does the calling of the name.

Matthew reports back to Gerry (f). He claimed in his testimony that he reports that everything is fine. I think he actually told him he couldn’t find Maddie.

Gerry immediately gets up to go check on Maddie (f). This makes absolutely no sense if Matthew had just got back from a check and reported no problems.

Matthew did not see Maddie because she had fallen behind the sofa, under the window. He looked in the bedrooms, but clearly didn’t investigate fully in the lounge. Gerry finds Maddie not in her bed or their bed, so searches all around, and discovers Maddie's body. He has to decide what to do quickly. Given her history of wandering, he knows they are going to be done for negligence if she had a fatal accident while they were out on the piss. He decides he’s going to have to conceal the body. There may be additional reasons for not wanting an autopsy to be performed.

Lucky for him, he has brought a large tennis bag which is in the master bedroom. He picks up Maddie, carries her in, and folds her body up into the bag. This is consistent with the cadavarine alert near the wardrobe. He is a sociopath/psychopath so this is mere pragmatism to him and not especially emotionally troubling. He does some rudimentary cleaning up of the blood before leaving, and pushes the sofa back against the wall to conceal the accident, which is where it ended up when the police arrived.

He looks carefully outside, and sees that no one is around the door to the outside. He carries the bag down to a bush near the apartment, where he sets the bag down briefly. This is consistent with the weak cadavarine alert here.

When he thinks the coast is clear, he sets off in the direction of the beach. He somehow manages to not get spotted, or else people pay no attention to him from a distance since the bag isn’t too suspicious. After some distance he conceals the bag in some bushes for later collection, and carries Maddie the rest of the way. He does get seen by a couple, who later give a statement that they are 60-80% sure they saw Gerry McCann, carrying a child, in the direction of the beach (f).

He hurries down near the beach, and finds a suitable place to conceal the body. As I mentioned, Matthew Oldfield tips them off about what he’s doing here. He makes sure he is far enough away from the apartment so that searches are unlikely to reach it. He runs back to the apartment, knowing that all hell will soon be breaking loose when everyone discovers Maddie is missing.

Kate checks on Maddie at 10.00 (f). Whether she knew what she’d find or not, she raises the alarm, announcing Maddie "has been taken". This is the beginning of a cover story which she has had to keep up to this day, and it’s eating her up from within.

As I mentioned in my evidence thread, she makes impossible claims about a break-in, and false reports about the state of the window according to the testimony of the Tapas 7 (f).

Gerry is unaccounted for in the initial search (f). He returns to the area sometime around 10.30 (f) after he has finished running back from the beach, and joins in the "search". Eventually the police are called (f).

The police take down the information, and over the next few weeks searches are carried out with no results (f).

The McCanns hire a rental car some weeks later (f). They manage to retrieve Maddie's body from the hiding spot, and conceal it again in the bag. Once in the boot, bodily fluids including blood leak out of both ends of the bag during the drive, which is consistent with the cadavarine and blood alerts, and Maddie's bodily fluid retrieved. There is just no other reasonable explanation at this point as to what this evidence would be representing regarding the hire car, when Maddie is supposedly in the hands of an abductor.

They drive to some remote location, to either bury Maddie where they think she won’t be found in their lifetime, or else find a way of destroying the body. This is evidenced by Gerry's repeated arrogant smirk in interviews, as he challenges people to "produce a body".

So ends the tale of poor Madeleine.

The government conspiracy part is a bit iffy.

I highly recommend checking out this video, to see how the police have clearly been instructed to fluff the evidence. This is on top of the British "investigation" excluding the McCanns and the Tapas 7 as suspects based on nothing, before they even began their "independent" review of the case.

Just maybe, this is the result of "friends in high places" taken to the extreme. But this level of obvious conspiracy seems too much for that.
