The only time I've ever seen an atheist try to convince a religious person to "convert" is on the internet, when they argued against the ardent preaching and threats of the non-existent "hell". I'll further comment that I consider Dante's "Inferno" to be an early example of fiction that was taken up and run with by the "Catholic Football League".
The amount of shame that should be heaped upon the behavior of the RCC since its inception can't possibly exceed the amount of grief that said institution has caused. Talk about high crimes against humanity.
