Do yall think an atheist trying to convince someone out of their faith is equal to a theist trying to convert?

Equal as in, both are equally out of line and should avoid doing that?

I think misrepresenting your case and deliberately tailoring it to persuade the individual is just plain disrespectful, whoever does it.

Should they avoid doing that?  I can't necessarily give them an adequate reason, no.  They need to get smarter and care more.  So I guess the lesson is, if you can't persuade an asshole to give up their assholery, avoid them.
