I guess I' m trying to say that my neighbor isn't really concerned about lowering his carbon footprint - he just likes the excuse to buy a new car, while feeling good about it.
It' s that way with lots of things. Like airport security. All the bullshit you put up with in security screening means nothing. Any competent terrorist will figure a way around the security measures. All the screening does is make white people feel safe.
Ditto - gun free zones. The height of arrogance and stupidity. If someone decides they' re going to spend the morning shooting people for sport - do you REALLY think they're going to see the "gun free zone" sign, shrug their shoulders, and head home thinking " Gee, that ruins my plans for the morning,"
