No one following the teachings of Jesus Christ would ever say anything remotely like that. I know you are talking about the Crusades. No one considers those to be Christians though. It's like saying the KKK are Christians, or the Westboro Baptists are Christians. It is just not true. They are the wicked people who Jesus warned us about. They are the hypocrites, and they are fakes. Anyone who is familiar with the Bible and the commands of God and Jesus Christ realizes that.
The quote Fake is using here may or may not be real. Nobody knows for sure. It was supposedly said at the massacre of Beziers, which took place in 1209.
The attack was part of a military drive against a Christian heresy, Catharism. The overall crusade was known as the Albigensian Crusade.
The Cathars began as strict Christians who thought that the Catholic establishment was corrupt. The Vatican couldn't stand opposition, and ordered them wiped out. It began as a theological dispute, but it became more than that when Catholic noblemen were told they could keep the lands of Cathar-supporting noblemen whom they defeated. Suddenly a lot of indifferent Catholics signed up to fight.
When the guy said, "Kill them. For the Lord knows those that are his own," he knew full well that the guy who was paying him would get to keep the land.
So it's one of those things that the anti-religious can point to, which proves nothing to the religious. Fake can say that it shows the evil of Christians, while Christians can say it shows the worldly greed of the military and proves that the murdered Cathars were correct. Nothing gets accomplished this way.
